Description

Let Primary MathSense help your students develop fluency with addition and subtraction facts! With 30 different skill levels and 6 review levels, this incremental program builds understanding of strategies at a pace that allows every child to experience success.

Why choose Primary MathSense to improve your students' fluency with addition and subtraction?

- It begins at the very beginning--by testing your students' ability to write numbers quickly, and then practicing very simple fact types such as adding 0 or subtracting all.

- It's based in the math strategies, not mere collections of assorted facts. As you teach your students addition and subtraction strategies such as partners to make 10, doubles plus 1, and using 10 to add 9 (9 + 8 = 9 + 1 + 7), you can coordinate it with the mad minute sheets to create long-lasting results.

- It has all the mad minute math sheets you'll need! Thirty individual levels and six review levels multiplied by five randomized versions (one for each day of the school week) give your students abundant practice without memorizing the order of the facts on the page.

- A set of charts at the end enables you to monitor your students' progress so you can easily spot students in need of extra practice or support.

When your students finish the addition / subtraction book, they're ready to begin with Primary MathSense - Mad Minute Math Facts: Multiplication/Division!

I'm actually using this in my Tier 2 high school math support class. Students don't know the basics and this is a huge resource to help the remember their basic math facts.

Fluently add and subtract within 5.
Add and subtract within 20, demonstrating fluency for addition and subtraction within 10. Use strategies such as counting on; making ten (e.g., 8 + 6 = 8 + 2 + 4 = 10 + 4 = 14); decomposing a number leading to a ten (e.g., 13 - 4 = 13 - 3 - 1 = 10 - 1 = 9); using the relationship between addition and subtraction (e.g., knowing that 8 + 4 = 12, one knows 12 - 8 = 4); and creating equivalent but easier or known sums (e.g., adding 6 + 7 by creating the known equivalent 6 + 6 + 1 = 12 + 1 = 13).
Fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies. By end of Grade 2, know from memory all sums of two one-digit numbers.
