Description

My first graders love using these cards as a math center; especially since QR codes are involved! QR codes instantly make activities more exciting and engaging for all learners. Students are able to check their answers on their own giving them immediate feedback -which is just one reason why I love students working with QR Codes.

To access the QR code on each card you will need to download a free QR reader on your iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, or laptop (any of these devices, as long as it has a camera, will work!)

This 4 center bundle, aligned to the Common Core, includes:

30 task cards and recording sheet for: Skating through and finding the unknown number in addition sentences (1.0A.D.8)

30 task cards and recording sheet for: Flying to find the unknown number in subtraction sentences (1.0A.D.8)

30 task cards and recording sheet for: Superhero problem solver (1.OA.B.3)

30 task cards and recording sheet for: Superhero domino addition related to subtraction (1.OA.B.4)

Printable assessment for students covering each of the standards listed above.

2 games (Bump! and Roll, Add and Draw) included to help student practice each of the common core standards listed above.

**This bundle is intended to help my first graders understand the meaning of the "equal sign." Therefore, the equal sign is put on both sides of the equation i.e. 3+4=7 and 7=4+3 or 7-3=4 and 3=7-4. This is a tricky concept for first graders (especially the subtraction) but these cards help my first graders practice this skill in a fun and engaging way. Please note the equal sign will be on both sides throughout these task cards.**

Apply properties of operations as strategies to add and subtract. If 8 + 3 = 11 is known, then 3 + 8 = 11 is also known. (Commutative property of addition.) To add 2 + 6 + 4, the second two numbers can be added to make a ten, so 2 + 6 + 4 = 2 + 10 = 12. (Associative property of addition.)
Understand subtraction as an unknown-addend problem. For example, subtract 10 – 8 by finding the number that makes 10 when added to 8.
Determine the unknown whole number in an addition or subtraction equation relating three whole numbers. For example, determine the unknown number that makes the equation true in each of the equations 8 + ? = 11, 5 = ▯ - 3, 6 + 6 = ▯.
