Description

Looking for QR code activities to teach number patterns and skip counting? Simply cut out and laminate these task cards and place in a center with a device that can read QR codes (iPod Touch, iPad, tablet, or laptop/desktop with a camera). Students get immediate feedback when they scan the QR codes.

This set includes 26 task cards for which students are to identify the rule and continue the number pattern. Simply cut out the cards and laminate so students can write in their answers with vis-à-vis/dry-erase markers. OR have them record the rule and missing numbers on the student recording sheet. These task cards are aligned to the Common Core State Standards 3.OA.9 and 4.OA.5.

A student recording sheet, answer key, and one-page (6 question) quick assessment are included. I recently upgraded all of my math task cards to include a digital, self-grading version of the quick assessment using Google Forms™! Download the preview to see the task cards up close. Identify arithmetic patterns (including patterns in the addition table or multiplication table), and explain them using properties of operations. For example, observe that 4 times a number is always even, and explain why 4 times a number can be decomposed into two equal addends.
Generate a number or shape pattern that follows a given rule. Identify apparent features of the pattern that were not explicit in the rule itself. For example, given the rule “Add 3” and the starting number 1, generate terms in the resulting sequence and observe that the terms appear to alternate between odd and even numbers. Explain informally why the numbers will continue to alternate in this way.
