Description

My first graders love using these cards as a math center; especially since QR codes are involved! QR codes instantly make activities more exciting and engaging for all learners. Students are able to check their answers on their own giving them instant feedback on their work. Instant feedback helps students to practice skills correctly which is just one reason, as a teacher, why I also love my students working with QR Codes.

To access the QR code on each card you will need to download a free QR reader on your iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, or laptop (any of these devices, as long as it has a camera, will work!)

This center includes: 30 QR Code activity cards, 3 student recording sheets, 3 answer keys to help make grading easier, and 2 activities that allow for teachers to better gauge student understanding of this number concept. There are also manipulative bones, bowls, and mats to help make this center more hands-on for students.

If you use Pearson EnVision Math this center supports Topic 2.

Understand subtraction as an unknown-addend problem. For example, subtract 10 – 8 by finding the number that makes 10 when added to 8.
Add and subtract within 20, demonstrating fluency for addition and subtraction within 10. Use strategies such as counting on; making ten (e.g., 8 + 6 = 8 + 2 + 4 = 10 + 4 = 14); decomposing a number leading to a ten (e.g., 13 - 4 = 13 - 3 - 1 = 10 - 1 = 9); using the relationship between addition and subtraction (e.g., knowing that 8 + 4 = 12, one knows 12 - 8 = 4); and creating equivalent but easier or known sums (e.g., adding 6 + 7 by creating the known equivalent 6 + 6 + 1 = 12 + 1 = 13).
