My kids took a great deal of pride in making their lanterns. It helped to bring history to life!

Please view the mini windows to get a good feel of what you'll be receiving. There is a short poem about John Rankin, and you'll also be given my A+ African American History & The Underground Railroad Book....just in case you'd like to read through that with your students before you begin this activity.

This would go well with my Hiding Harriet STEM activity:
STEM Science, Technology, Engineering & Math:Underground Railroad Harriet Tubman
After making this STEM, I realized that creating the lantern would also be very cute to do with the nursery rhyme, Wee Willie Winkie.
The following is the same STEM as this one, it simply has the nursery rhyme character and clock work:STEM Science, Technology, Engineering & Math: Nursery Rhyme Wee Willie Winkie
