Description

This Scale Drawings Performance Task is an excellent summative assessment for your students. It can be given in the form of an assignment, group project or extra credit. It brings all the concepts of the unit together and requires students to think outside of the box. You could assign everyone the same information or you could print the included pieces and have groups draw for information.

Students will work to design a different part of a home. They will create a floor plan with furniture to meet specifications and then use a scale to determine the actual area of each item.

Students are able to practice and apply concepts with this scale drawings performance task, while collaborating and having fun! Math can be fun and interactive!

Standards: CCSS (7.G.1, 7.G.4, 7.G.6) and TEKS (7.5C, 7.9B, 7.9C)

A scale drawings performance task that can be utilized in pairs or groups of 3-4. A paper and digital version are available.

  • Performance Task (both a printable recording sheet and a color version for projecting)

How to use this resource:

  • Use as a whole group classroom activity
  • Use in a small group for additional remediation, tutoring, or enrichment
  • Use as an alternative homework or independent practice assignment
  • Incorporate within our Plane Geometry and Similarity Unit to support the mastery of concepts and skills.

Time to Complete:

  • Most activities can be utilized within one class period. Performance tasks summarize the entire unit and may need 2-3 class periods. However, feel free to review the activities and select specific problems to meet your students’ needs and time specifications.
