Description

This STEM pack has everything you need to implement a fun St. Patrick's Day or spring themed STEM challenge once a week in the month of March. Incorporate STEM with a twist of St. Patrick's Day or Spring fun all while getting your Science standards taught.

STEM challenges work best with groups and encourages design and construction, while working through the engineering process.

Included in the pack are all the directions, lab sheets, graphs, constraint cards, and even pictures to help you get started to include a fun filled STEM lesson in your classroom. This pack is perfect for completing one STEM challenge per week during the month of March. Most of the supplies are very inexpensive and are things that can be found easily around the house or classroom. The STEM challenges are as follows:

Build a Leprechaun Trap - Individuals or groups will design and construct a trap to try and catch the sneaky, but clever Leprechaun. I have included a parent note if you wish for this to be a challenge completed at home. This challenge also comes with a sequential order "How To" writing prompt.

Design Rainbow Paper - Individuals or groups will design rainbow paper and explore what causes and the colors that make up a rainbow.

St. Patty's Day Slime - Groups will make slime using the simple ingredients of glue, water, food coloring, gold glitter, and Borax. They will walk through Scientific Method to determine if the change is PHYSICAL or CHEMICAL.

Build a Parachute - Groups will use the materials available to construct a parachute which is able to get their Lego character or other figurine to ground in the slowest amount of time possible.

Every challenge includes:

● Teacher Guides with complete step by step instructions

● STEM recording sheets for each challenge

● Constraint Cards to be used in groups

● Material Cards for each challenge

Check back or follow me - I plan on adding more themed STEM challenges very soon!

I can't wait to use the rainbow activity for my observation with my students. I linked it with the story How the Crayons Saved the Rainbow. I expect the students to totally love this!
