Description
As the new school year approaches, I am looking forward to teaching younger learners for the first time in many years. In anticipation of working with younger students, I have been working on building a variety of grammar and vocabulary games that I can use in a variety of circumstances: as bell ringers and morning work, as sponge activities, during intervention blocks, or at stations.
Since this set is designed for flexibility, the entire set is available in Google Slides so you can decide whether you want to use these cards digitally or whether you (like me) want to print, cut, and laminate. This means the cards are 100% editable and ready for you to customize.
To optimize this set for distance learning, I've included:
- an interactive matching game in the Google Slides.
Includes 24 cards.
- The first 12 cards ask students to sort sentences based on type: simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex. Since this is an identification-level task, the card sort appears early in my unit on sentence types.
- The second 12 cards are Task Cards that challenge students to apply their understanding of sentence types. Since this requires higher-level thinking, this is a perfect activity for later in the unit.
Since this resource includes Google tools, TPT will create a folder in your Google Drive where you can access all parts of this resource!
BUT WAIT...In all, I have created 20 different grammar and vocabulary games like this one. All together, that's 730+ cards and 470 pages that cover a variety of topics. For me, that's an entire year's worth of bell ringers, exit tickets, station ideas, sponge activities, and intervention tools. To purchase these items separately would cost $50, but purchasing the bundle will save you $10, so that's like getting four card sets for free plus the bonus set!
Here's the games in this Grammar and Vocabulary Fun and Games Bundle:
-Verbals Card Sort and Task Cards
-Active and Passive Voice Card Sort
-Steps in a Research Process Card Sort
-Source Credibility and Bias Card Sorts
-Sentence Types Card Sort and Task Cards
