Description

This unique, fun interactive activity includes 15 problems on Simplifying Exponents and Powers. Students simplify expressions with exponents using the Rules of exponents for multiplication, zero power, power to a power, multiplying and dividing. After simplifying, the choose the correct answer and match it to a part of Mr. Math Head. That's where the fun begins.

Some problems have negative exponents. Please look at the problems in the preview to make sure they are appropriate for your classes.

The multiple choice format lends itself to a fun self-checking activity as your students will build a Mr. Math Head on the idea of Mr. Potato Head®. For each of the 15 problems, there will be 4 choices of “body parts” or colors to draw on the template; i.e. 4 eye styles, 4 ear styles, 4 hat styles, etc. Their answers determine the body part or color. If your students get all the problems correct, they will match the Mr. Math Head key exactly. There are two versions included. The problems are the same, the order of the answers differ. Use them in the same class or different classes. Students can color the rest of Mr. Math Head when done.

I am sure your students will love this. They can work alone, in pairs, or small groups. No prep for you! Answer keys included.

My kids loved this! Most easily finished in class period and liked how it was different than a normal activity. However, there are a couple of typos. Question 15 doesn't use all the same variables, which makes the answer easy to pick. Also on the "what to draw" sheet, it should #14 should say write the equation on the whiteboard and also answer A's formula needs fixed.
