Need a fun way to introduce or to practice solving one-step equations independently? Here it is! This matching game allows students to practice solving one step equations using division, potentially without knowing it! The game is uses visuals. X and Y are characters, Xari and Yari the Variables, which are letter shaped boxes. In this matching game, students are given 10 situations of items in a certain number of Xaris or Yaris. Students must find the simplified equation which shows how many of the object are in 1 Xari or Yari. Students can use this to discover the idea of dividing to solve equations or to practice. It is not intimidating as it is all visuals. This would work well in a resource room as well.
**The answer key is included on the slide following the matching game, so you may want to delete that before sharing with students.
