Description

Notes template or outline for students to follow along with teacher. Specifically these notes are for the Math 9 Alberta Curriculum or as enrichment for Math 8.

The topics included are:

*Distributive property with fractions, for example 1/3(x-4)=12

*Variables on both sides of the equation

*Practice

I always try to include examples where the most common mistakes are made. For example students often forget the variable is negative in examples like -4= 3 - x. Or where the end of the question has -4=-x, and students need to remove the negative still. By including these common mistakes in notes, students are reinforced to overcome the misconceptions.

Notes are designed to help further develop students numeracy with discussion on different approaches and building their confidence. I often say to students make the equation more friendly for you!
