Get hands-on with these Spring STEM activities and challenges! Students will learn how insects pollinate flowers. They'll launch an insect and keep track of the pollen it picks up. This STEM Challenge includes an engineering activity and a math challenge!

Pollinators Spring STEM Challenge
Students must create a model of an insect to stand on its own for 10 seconds. The insect must pollinate.
- cardboard tubes, paper cups, cardboard egg carton
- tape
- pipe cleaner
- straws
- scissors
Pollen Count Spring STEM Challenge
Students engineer a catapult to launch a toy insect or a gummy worm to a flower. Students add the total to find the sum of pollen.
- craft sticks
- rubber bands
- spoon
- insect toy or rubber band
Flower targets are differentiated to meet the needs of YOUR students. This resource can be used for grades K - 3. I've included one-digit, two-digit, and three-digit targets. This includes with and without regrouping.
Targets include:
- Numbers 1 - 10
- 2-digit addition without regrouping
- 2-digit addition with regrouping in the ones
- 2-digit addition with regrouping in the tens
- 2-digit addition with regrouping in the ones and tens
- 3-digit addition without regrouping
- 3-digit addition with regrouping in the ones
- 3-digit addition with regrouping in the tens
- 3-digit addition with regrouping in the ones and tens
