How To Best Use This Product

Distribute one of the sum it up activities to your students. Have them answer each of the four problems in the activity. The sum of each of the four answers should equal the sum that is in the middle of each sum it up activity. If it does not, at least one mistake was made. This product works really well with students working in partners. It is great at having students slow down and check their work.

What This Product Includes

This product contains a total of nine different sum it up activities at three different levels. Each level has three different versions. Level 1 activities were designed for struggling learners. Level 2 activities were designed for the average student. Level 3 activities were designed as an enrichment activity for stronger students. Download the preview to see how the problems get progressively more difficult. In all this product contains thirty six problems and a teacher answer key.

Details About The Levels

Level 1 problems are basic one-step equations. Some answers will be negative.

Level 2 problems are two step equations. Some answers will be negative.

Level 3 problems are equations that have variables on both sides. In addition, students may have to combine like terms to solve the problem. Some answers will be negative.
