Students read five different mini paragraphs about cake, identifying the structure used to write each one. Then they color in the images according to their answers.
What’s so important about text structures? Research shows that tackling and understanding the way an author has organized their writing increases students’ overall reading comprehension. Additionally, many other comprehension-based activities such as summarizing, inferring, elaborating, and applying are also enhanced. Can't go wrong with an activity like this!
