Description

My students love craftivities! They are engaging, fun, and allow kids to be kids while practicing the skills we need them to master by the end of the year. I am always in the middle of word problems with fractions during Thanksgiving. My students have been working on solving word problems with a variety of different operations. The thing is, I definitely won't have the same students next year and I like to personalize my lessons by adding student names to problems. I also know I may be on different content this time of the year. So...this is an editable activity! Win, win!

The text boxes are editable, BUT all clipart is secured as PNG files so it CANNOT BE MOVED.

An older, dated version is still included, as is a PDF file for your reference.

Use the activity as is or tailor it to meet your needs.

We absolutely loved this activity! We had a wonderful time laughing decorating and solving. I really loved the editable feature because I changed all of the names to make them more personal to our school and kids. My only mistake was I printed them at full percentage so my kids had very large turkeys. It gave them a good laugh though. I can't wait to use it next year too!

Thank you so much! That was my thinking too. Making math personal for your students is so important. They need to see themselves represented, not just by name either. I would definitely change this activity by polling my students to learn more about foods their family prepares, especially since my students celebrate other holidays as well. Glad it worked out and thanks for the feedback on the printing percentage. We had some pretty fun turkeys too!

You should have also been able to edit the text on the worksheet for the body parts. Love resources that can help across grade levels!

Add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators (including mixed numbers) by replacing given fractions with equivalent fractions in such a way as to produce an equivalent sum or difference of fractions with like denominators. For example, 2/3 + 5/4 = 8/12 + 15/12 = 23/12. (In general, 𝘢/𝘣 + 𝘤/𝘥 = (𝘢𝘥 + 𝘣𝘤)/𝘣𝘥.)
Apply and extend previous understandings of multiplication to multiply a fraction or whole number by a fraction.
