Description

Since unit rates are the best way to go comparison shopping, I had my students scour store ads that I provided to complete this worksheet. It has three different sections:

1. General categories of items in which students have to choose an item by brand, fill in the information and find a unit rate
2. Students chose a produce or meat item sold by the pound and answer questions based on this unit rate
3. More challenging questions such as "choose something that is a certain number for a dollar amount [Ex: 2 for $5, 4 for $2, etc] - find the unit rate in $/ounce based on the total amount of ounces"

It is meant to be used as a follow-up or enrichment activity for a ratio or rates unit and is a great way to get to know your students' likes and dislikes too!

Don't forget to return to my store and post your feedback! If you have any concerns or suggestions, please e-mail me before posting feedback. Thanks!

Great idea to help student practice unit rate pricing with real life situations. The kids enjoyed the control of researching the products they wanted to fulfill the boxes. Needed to modify the categories a bit but overall it was a useful activity.

Great activity, but I had to tweak it a bit to use with my local advertisements.

Solve unit rate problems including those involving unit pricing and constant speed. For example, if it took 7 hours to mow 4 lawns, then at that rate, how many lawns could be mowed in 35 hours? At what rate were lawns being mowed?
