Description

How do you engage students when holiday excitement sets in? Put them in charge of their own learning! This product challenges your students to use the included scenarios for location, entertainment, and food to create their own Valentine's Day party. They'll be challenged to make choices they like and to stay within the budget set within the project.

Inside this product you'll find:

- teacher's guides and scoring rubric

- student scenario

- student planning pages

- student conclusion pages

This product is suitable for advanced first and middle elementary school students, as well as homeschool and co-op students. All math can be done with addition and subtraction, though students may choose to use multiplication, as well. The use of calculators isn't necessary but you may choose to allow them.

Solve word problems involving dollar bills, quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies, using $ and ¢ symbols appropriately. Example: If you have 2 dimes and 3 pennies, how many cents do you have?
Understand that the three digits of a three-digit number represent amounts of hundreds, tens, and ones; e.g., 706 equals 7 hundreds, 0 tens, and 6 ones. Understand the following as special cases:
Use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one- and two-step word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.
