Description

Library centers and STEM go together like hot cocoa and marshmallows! This popular hot chocolate-themed center has just been updated for 2023. It teaches the 5 steps of the engineering design process and requires your students to work together as they plan and create a unique hot cocoa stand! BUT, there's a catch... as the students work through the steps, they'll have to be careful to meet four specific requirements that are expected by "their customer." The students' hot cocoa stands should be made from building bricks, such as LEGOs. Don't have any? (I'll give you some ideas for gathering them up in my notes!)

What You'll Get:

❄️ A PDF file to project when explaining the center to students. You can also print it out as a booklet for students to reference as they are working on their projects.

❄️ A group planning sheet for students. This sheet can be "signed off on" by the Chief Planning Inspector (that's YOU!) before the students are allowed to start building. It also serves as the exit ticket.

❄️ A few notes pages that explain the preparation for the center, teaching tips, and ideas for introducing the center to students.

❄️ Please see the preview for examples of a few hot cocoa stands that were built by my students.
