I use CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) picture cards all the time in my classroom! These picture cards are a great way to introduce spelling to students. Each picture consists of a 3-letter word (i.e. c-a-t) so it's easy for students to stretch out and decode the word. Here is a fun way to review letters and sounds...place all of the "lunchbox" letters into a basket. Have your students reach in and pick a letter, find it on the worksheet and either write or bingo dab the matching letter. My students just LOVE Literacy Center time...and they can't wait to try our Write the Room activity for the week. This is a FREE Write the Room activity all about Canada. To set this center up, simply cut, laminate and tape the various words around your classroom for your students to find. This fun activity will have your students sorting by initial sounds in no time! Simply put all of the fish in a large container and have your students 'fish' them out!
