I started out teaching pre-school at Head Start. My first "official" job was at Mountain Creek Academy, the alternative school, teaching 6,7,and 8th grade math and science. I then moved to Spring Place Elementary and taught sixth and fifth grade math. This is my third year in fifth grade math, and I love it! Math is my passion.

Powers of Ten Error Analysis {Higher Order Thinking}
Error Analysis is a way to flex higher order thinking muscles in students. It promotes thinking outside the box. The students LOVE doing this; it makes them feel very smart to be able to detect when someone else makes an error. They are diligent about trying to figure out what error occurred. TEST PREP: 5th Grade GPS Social Studies Practice Test {Every domain}
This is an excellent end of the year review of ALL fifth grade social studies concepts! There is a total of 50 questions that cover all of the GPS domains and strands. There is also a student answer sheet and a diagnostic page provided. The diagnostic page is especially helpful for pin-pointing each student's weak areas to create intervention groups before the standardized test.

Experience

Teaching style
I really believe that hands-on application helps bring home difficult concepts for children and adults alike. Being able to tie the new information to something they already understand helps lock in the concept.I love to incorporate technology into my classroom as well as other innovative techniques. I believe differentiation, when done correctly, really does work. I try to incorporate differentiation into all of my products that I can. It is very easy to differentiate in the classroom with the right resources.
