I have been fortunate enough to work with children over 38 years as a teacher of the hearing impaired, special educator/early interventionist, speech-language pathologist, assistant principal and principal. Every experience has greatly enriched my life with wonderful children, staff and families and special, lasting memories. Over the years as an SLP, I developed an innovative multisensory approach to link speech and literacy, called Teddy Talker™. I wanted to transform learning with an interactive hands-on materials connecting speech to print. In my experience, some children needed a more multisensory bridge to articulation, phonemic awareness and early literacy! So "Teddy", the multisensory bear, was born to invite the imagination of children and physically engage them in learning. I also provide professional development on multisensory interventions and creative techniques through puppetry, print and play.
I am a strong believer that multisensory teaching through multiple modalities benefits all children. My teaching style allows children to construct their own knowledge and, most importantly, I believe learning should be FUN! Just like the children we teach, we are ALL creative and each person expresses this creativity differently!
