30 task cards at 3 ability levels for calculating the volume of 3D prisms.
Since January 2015, I’ve been teaching mathematics in addition to science. An experienced maths teacher observed me using these task cards with a class and she said that she thought the students loved using these cards. She said the students could work at their own level and focus on one task at a time.
The first 10 focus on cuboids.
The next 10 are triangular prisms and cylinders (using radius).
The final 10 are cylind

This toolkit contains all of the standard circuit symbols you would expect to find. I’ve formatted them in a way that makes it easy build circuit diagrams just by copying and pasting the components.
The file is a PowerPoint document - fully editable and easy to paste into the other programs.
I’ve included a couple of example worksheets made using the toolkit (answers included) to show you what’s possible.
You may use the component symbols in your own projects. All I ask is that you credit me
A stand-alone lesson giving your students a chance to practise drawing bar charts, or this could be used (as I did) as a follow-up to a lesson investigating friction.
This download includes:
A worksheet in PDF and editable Word format including a table of results for a friction experiment. Students must work out some missing averages and draw a bar chart of the experiment. There's a checklist of what to include on the bar chart.
A PowerPoint file with the objective and differentiated outcomes

It is essential to cover safety at the start of the school year with any group that will be working in the science lab. I don’t know about you, but even I get bored of the standard safety talk (so how do you think the kids feel?)! Mix things up a little with these 16 task cards. Each describes a different situation and the students must decide what they would do. There are no answers included as these will depend on your own classroom rules and school policies. The students might surprise you an
An activity comparing the properties of sound or light. Students could cut out the cards themselves and glue them into their books, or you could laminate the page and create a card sort before the lesson. Available as a PDF with funky fonts or an editable Word document. It's also free!
Three lessons from my full scheme of work on electric circuits. The first explorers the discovery of electricity, the second is a project for building light-up Christmas cards and the third is an investigation into different wires.
Update 3rd December 2013: I’ve added some information cards about Galvani and Volta. I’ve also given some sentences starters and a line guide to help students write a newspaper report about the two scientists.
