This worksheet provides a real world example of why unit rate is relevant and how people can use it in their every day lives. It also opens up the potential to create an activity or project where students can do grocery shopping on a budget or do a price is right style game.
An 8 question quiz on rates. Students have to know how to simplify ratios, find the unit rate and solve word problems on the topic. The entire test was worth 10 points. I made problems 1-6 are worth 1 point and problems 7-8 worth 2 points. On problem 7, students earned 1 point for the 2 division problems and another point for answering the actual question of which one is the best deal. On problem 8, students earned 1 point for dividing to find the price of 1 book and then another point for multi
An 8 question quiz on percents! I have a reminder at the top of the test for students to remember what the words “of” and “is” mean in math. (A lot of times students will do a problem completely wrong and because they lack the conceptual understanding or number sense, they don't notice that their answer is completely wrong or not possible!)

This is a great way to have students set weekly goals and then check their own progress at the end of the week. This allows them to set goals and self-reflect on what they want to work towards, how they can improve themselves in class, and continue to grow each week. This is something that students can complete independently, you can complete in class or can have students complete at home with parents/guardians.
