Halloween Jack o' Lantern Art

This fun, hands-on project demonstrates positive and negative space art and symmetry. Symmetry is when two halves of an object or image have a balanced similarity. One half of the image is the mirror image of the other half. The human face is an example of symmetry: each half has an eye, ½ of a nose and ½ of a mouth. This project was so popular it had to be repeated every year in my 6-9 Montessori classroom!

Coin Values: Counting by Sight and Touch

This is a fun project for helping students learn the value of coins. Other variations such as tracing each line with finger paint or placing bead on the end of each string can also be fun.
