Blueprint for a Dream Room GATE Scale Activity
My GATE students loved this engaging lesson! It was a real challenge for my 3rd graders and right on target for my 4th and 5th graders. If you want your GATE kids to finally have to WORK to find an answer, this is for you! I think this would also work well in the regular 6th or 7th grade classroom.
Instructions and recommendations for using this lesson are included.
Students will:
1. Research and record measurements around their home to get a realistic idea for the measurements of their dream

STEAM -- Snap n' Shoot Marshmallow Soccer Game
Kid-built in a few hours . . . this goalie, net and goal, and cool marshmallow “snapper” is a complete kid-built soccer game. We don’t have to use our imagination here! Our snapper really shoots the marshmallow ball, and our goalies really defend.
Use this building project as a challenging independent study for upper elementary, as a whole-class engineering project, or use it to make math and science applications like percentages, measurements and geometry, action/reaction, trajectory, etc.
