Welcome to this 4th, 5th and 6th-grade fun, multi-step, critical thinking, word problem math packet. I originally designed this for my 5th-grade classroom, but most of the pages can be used for gifted or high achieving students in both 4th and 6th grade. I wrote these word problems over a number of years, and a couple of them are actually ones that students wrote. 4th Grade Math Common Core Measurement Word Problems written to challenge students. These will enrich and extend their thinking. Standards covered are 4MD2 and 4MD3 as well as 4OA3. These work extremely well as exemplars. There are three real world questions that can be solved as a whole class, in small groups or by individual students.

This project is intended to be used for students to apply their skills of multiplying decimals by whole numbers, adding/subtracting decimals, and analyzing graphs/data to the real-world. To track the stock market, students can go online and type in the company's name in Google. The price of the stock should pop up.

Cryptography Worksheet and Scavenger Hunt: Caesar Shift
I created this worksheet and scavenger hunt for an all girls STEM-careers camp. The girls were ages 6-12, so we completed the worksheet together, and did the scavenger hunt in two groups based on age. The clues for the scavenger hunt will probably need to be rewritten based on the locations you have available. Additionally, the answer to the first question on the worksheet is "girls rock", and this may also need to be changed in a typical classroom or enrichment setting. Overall, this is a great

3rd Grade Data and Goal Setting Sheet
Students are actively involved in their academic progress by using this goal setting grid. It enables students, in conference with their teacher, to analyze their progress and set new and attainable goals. This sheet is sent home after each testing segment for parents to praise their child's growth, but is returned to school and kept in student's binder.

Mission to Mars Math Project
Students work in teams to apply their math skills to plan a Journey to Mars. If the trip takes 6 months there, and 6 months home and you will stay for 6 months, how much food and water will your crew need? Use the "Important information" provided to figure it out! Then prepare a colorful poster displaying your calculations, results, and your rocket ship with your team members peeking out!

Students love this high interest online math activity! Students will learn about the Pittsburgh Cookie table wedding tradition. Then they will step into the shoes of local bakers to fulfill orders for cookies. Students will use knowledge of multiplication (double digits) to solve problems by browsing online Pittsburgh bakeries.

Project Based Learning- Wedding Cookie Table Planning (Multiplication)
Students will pretend they are wedding planners and help the bride and groom plan for their wedding cookie table. Read about the Pittsburgh-based tradition within the project and use websites of local bakeries to develop price quotes for the client. Students must use multiplication and online tools to complete this activity.
