The first activity has the students try to determine the mass of a single candy corn. Definitely have a range of acceptable masses for a single candy corn for the package that you have. The second activity has students trying out different liquids (I typically use hot and cold water, ethanol, white vinegar, and apple cider vinegar) to determine which best dissolves a candy corn.

"What Comes Next" is a college study unit designed for elementary students in a gifted or high achievers program. The program was developed using Georgia colleges.
