These order of operations match game cards have students pairing a simple expression using parentheses, with a simple context (third grade level). Why? This lets learners focus all of their mental energy on the reasoning. WHY are these numbers in parentheses instead of those? Do the parentheses always matter? Intro to proof writing courses are based on a study of formal logic that must be abstract enough to apply to many subjects, but also stay grounded enough for students to understand.
