This is a short quiz for the book David Goes to School by David Shannon. The quiz was used to assess student's readiness to take an Accelerated Reader computer based assessment on the book. The questions are unique and do not duplicate the accelerated reader questions, but is a good indicator of student attention to the text.
A great way to improve students reading skills is to teach the seven syllable types and the four syllable division patterns. This quiz is for students to take to review how to use commas in a series in sentences (such as listing things). There are three different parts to the quiz. The first part, students must put commas in the sentences where they belong. The second part, students must decide whether the commas in the sentence are in the right place and if not, fix them. For the third part, students write two sentences to show the teacher they know how to use commas correctly.
This resource contains exit slips for each lesson in unit five of the Everyday Math Series version four for fourth grade. It also contains a review/study guide for all of unit 5. Rotation and revolution can be very confusing for my fifth graders, so I created this organizer to deepen understanding about the concepts. I usually use this as a formative assessment at the beginning of my solar system unit as a partner & explore activity.
This is a short lesson to review improper fractions and mixed numbers, and then to use those numbers in division problems. I used the context of making the keys of a marimba (xylophone-like instrument) to allow students to work through these problems.
The lesson includes links to videos of children playing marimbas, a warm-up, the lesson, and an exit ticket question. This can also be used as a formative assessment to help determine students' abilities with these topics.
