Test/Quiz Corrections and Error Analysis
Students know the content, but make mistakes on their final test or quiz. That doesn't mean they can't gain some credit since overall mastery is the goal, right? This form allows them to process through their errors and gives them a chance to earn some points back on their grade! In order to get credit, they must explain why they got the question wrong, show the work that proves the correct answer, and then write what important rules/concepts in math they need to remember when answering a similar question in the future.

Students use this Corrections/Error Analysis Sheet after they have taken a quiz or test. I have a stack in a tub by our supplies for easy access. Sometimes, I use these Corrections/Error Analysis Sheets in small groups or one to one. If students can analyze why they made certain mistakes, they are more liking to avoid them the next time. It also allows me to group students with similar misunderstandings together.

Mistakes on math tests happen for many reasons: A student may not have remembered the necessary steps, didn’t memorize necessary information, didn’t utilize math notes (if allowed to use), didn’t read directions carefully or just made a silly mistake. The philosophy behind Math Repair is to let students have one more look at their math test. A teacher will re-grade the test and attach the note with the new grade.
