Graphing/Problem Solving Math Activity
One of the first tasks at the beginning of the school year is to write down how all of our students are getting home. Whether it's a bike, a bus, a car, daycare, etc., it's our responsibility to have our students know where they are going as well as ourselves! With this math activity, students are going to be solving a problem by how each student will be getting home. Once the class is finished, they will graph it.

How do you get home?
This graphing activity allows students to show how they get home from school. There is also a recording sheet for the teacher to help keep up with student transportation. Students work with class to make a graph of bus riders and car riders. Students can then record the graph independently and answer quesitons about the graph.

Our Birthday Graphs
I did this activity on the first day of school every year, but you can do it any time of the year! This packet has two 11" x 17" birthday graphs and four different 8 1/2" x 11" sheets of graphing squares (party hats, balloons, candles and blank squares). If you can't print 11" x 17" sheets at your home or school, most office supply stores will print them for $1 or less. Easy directions included.

Pick of the Pies
This fun little pie tasting activity is perfect for the holidays. Your students will have an opportunity to explore new pie flavors and review graphing at the same time.
It is open-ended, so you can choose any 4 flavors of pie. There are small pie pieces included, so you can create a large class graph. This works great on chart paper. I had to double up on a flavor on my graph, because so many of my students chose buttermilk. They can then transfer this data onto their own personal copy.
