I have experimented with different ways to make my 21st Century Math Projects more searchable and clear. Although a title like "Cost of Smoking" is descriptive of the interdisciplinary content, it isn't clear what topics are being taught. I have tried to make a Common Core alignment chart, but now with well over 100 projects that became too much to see visually. I have mapped each project to the CCSS on the TPT.

Number lines - one step in difficulty from Level 3.
Number lines begin at whole numbers - not zero. Hence, the student can find improper fractions at any point by using a whole number location on the number line - and the student is off to the races.
If students are only given discrete mixed numbers, proper fractions, improper fractions and decimals, then they 'float' in isolation. These number lines connect the elements in an application setting.
It takes a little bit everyday and the child
Students research mathematicians who have made famous and well known mathematical discoveries that have led to the mathematics they learn today. Some of the mathematicians are known by name, while others are known by their work. This project targets Common Core Technology Standards, mainly for grades 6-8. Students will also practice computer research methods, PowerPoint creation, proper citations and referencing, as well as correct English grammar and punctuation.

This is a grading rubric I use for many of the math projects my students have completed. It is pretty basic, however this makes it useful for many different types of projects. I have used this for addition/subtraction, measuring, and multiplication projects so far and it has worked well. I have included "following directions and On-Task" as part of the grading criteria since I teach in a self contained classroom for students with disabilities. I require my students to complete a picture for each

This year, many of us need to help kids become confident with the format of multiple choice questions before end of year district and state assessments.Â
I started out with a couple simple routines I'm using to make practicing for multiple choice more fun for my kids.
Since then, TpT members have added their ideas - I'm loving the contributions. Do you have time to take a look - and then maybe contribute an idea that works for you?
I can't wait to hear from more teachers! Thanks for ta

This is a recording sheet for counting and recording tens and ones counted as well as recording the numeral. Students are also to use the number line to show how they counted, whether it's by ones, twos, fives, or tens. During this lesson I usually allow them to complete it however they wish at first and then discuss how efficient it is to count by tens. I will use this same lesson again and observe how students are counting large quantities. This activity helps with number sense, place value a
The way I use these is by putting the print outs in dry erase pocket sleeves and have the students use rulers to divide their numbers lines into however many parts I want them to. It is also helpful because if you want them to shade in part of the fraction strips they can use their markers to show where a fraction is on the line.
This resource is meant to be used with all students in a first grade math literate classroom but can also be used for extremely independent kindergarten students or intervention for second graders. In the full unit, you will be planning for three levels of independence (the less independent, the more guidance from you will be needed) but with the key areas intact:

As you assess your students for Numeracy, have this handy overview next to you to jot down their names next to the Key Idea where you think they need to start in the Numeracy Project books.
You can use this to track progress or highlight an individual student's gaps that need extra attention.
This resource connects to the Modelling Books I have created that partner with the Numeracy Project books, a modelling book with loads of extra examples for each Key Idea listed on this overview. See my

Sometimes when I am grading projects, I wish I have a template big enough to keep all the evidences of students handy and visible. So I created my own template and sharing it with you.
I most commonly use it for:
>> Keeping attendance
>> Ticking boxes for evidence handed in
>> Adding parents' names for material donated or activities participated
>> Extra credit points
This PDF can be printed in tabloid or smaller. Perfect for keeping records in a wider frame, or stick
This resource allows students to prioritize their preferred learning projects by ranking their top 3 choices for anything. I have used this dozens of times throughout the school year. This streamlined process not only empowers students to express their interests but also aids educators in tailoring project assignments to align with individual student passions and curiosities.
Helps young children identify and became familiar with numbers. Drawing lines improves hand-eye coordination and control, prepareing children for writing. The activity is interactive and enjoyable, making learning more appealing for young learnes.
It is important to provide feedback to students about their assignments and projects. As a teacher, sometimes you are strapped for time. This feedback form provides already made comments (and some fill in the blank) that can be used with a graphing activity of the listed items that you allow students to create. For example: Students could survey peers about their favorite colors or pets. This would be a great opportunity for them to create a picture or bar graph. The form allows for indivi
