21st Century Math Projects by Topic Chart

Although a title like "Cost of Smoking" is descriptive of the interdisciplinary content, it isn't clear what topics are being taught. Number lines - one step in difficulty from Level 3.
Number lines begin at whole numbers - not zero. Hence, the student can find improper fractions at any point by using a whole number location on the number line - and the student is off to the races.
If students are only given discrete mixed numbers, proper fractions, improper fractions and decimals, then they 'float' in isolation. These number lines connect the elements in an application setting.
