This activity is to help students practice their skills with adding and subtracting integers. The goal is to get three problems correct, in a row, as if playing tic tac toe. The way I played with my students is they were to work out one problem at a time. This is an activity that allows students to practice place value from the hundreds to the ten thousands. Students race to represent a number with beads. Cards, game boards, directions, and sign out sheet all included. However, you will need to place 100 beads on a string for each player. Preferably, use a different color for every 10 beads in order for students to learn how to chunk when counting.
