This is the recommended order that the basic addition and subtraction facts should be taught. I have PowerPoints that teach each set of these basic facts conceptually. You control animations with clicks of the mouse. These Powerpoints build mental pictures of the facts by using ten frames and number lines. The fundamental theorem of arithmetic states that any number can be factored to a set of primes. Using prime numbers up to the square root of a number can be used to determine if a number is prime or composite. The square root of 100 is 10. SO using the prime numbers 2,3,5, and 7, a student can determine if a number is prime or composite.
