The Day the Crayons Quit Reader's Theater and Read Aloud Lesson
This Powerpoint file includes a read-aloud lesson for the popular picture book The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt. In the lesson students will learn about robust vocabulary from the story and what it means to "persuade". This is a very funny story and students will love reading the lines and acting out the parts! Reader's Theater is a wonderful way to strengthen reading fluency and build confidence in reluctant readers. Students will love the expression they will get to use as they act out the parts of the cranky/spirited crayons in the story!

This document contains a Reader's Theater Script for the story, "Last One in Is a Rotten Egg!" by Diane deGroat.
The script is set up to have twenty narrators that have three speaking parts each. Plus there are four or five characters from the story that have speaking parts. The script could easily be adapted for larger or smaller class sizes!
