In this activity students will first create a budget for a young adult. If students do not have background with creating a simple budget I recommend doing that step as a whole class activity. Students will then choose one of three cars for “Jenna” and calculate her costs of financing. Loan calculations are completed using an online loan calculator. Students will have to draw conclusions based on the calculations they find.

Given a blank equilateral triangle, students will recreate the Sierpinski's triangle fractal, to three iterations. They will be asked to figure out what fraction of the entire triangle each iteration takes up. From there, they will be asked to generate an infinite geometric series to describe this pattern, and then work out how much of the triangle will be filled when the series converges.
