Cell Parts - Organelles and their Functions - Digital Card Sort

I usually do this game in person, with actual cards and a "game board" where the students organize and match the cells to their function and then identify what type of cell the organelles can be found in. Thanks to hybrid teaching, this activity has gone totally digital. Students can drag and drop digital "cards" to a chart to make groups of corresponding organelles, functions and cell type.

This chart has students fill in information about each organelle, identify which type of cell (plant or animal) it can be found in, the location in the cell, then has students relate the function of the organelle to the function of a person within the school. i.e.-the nucleus would compare to the principal because the nucleus controls the activity of the cell just as the principal controls the activity of the school.

Macromolecules can turn into a vocabulary chart fast.Carbohydrates. Lipids. Proteins. Nucleic acids. Monomers. Polymers. Dehydration synthesis. Hydrolysis. There is a lot for biology students to keep straight — and if they do not know what to look for, a macromolecules reading can quickly become passive highlighting, answer-hunting, or another chart students copy and forget. This Macromolecules Reading Activity gives students a clear way to slow down, annotate with purpose, and turn the reading

How do scientists use graphs? This concept comparison helps students contrast bar graphs, pie charts and line graphs created from categorical and numerical data. The recall device uses DRY MIX and TRAILS as acronyms to help Ss remember how variables are plotted on a graph, and standard format for a graph. The frame comparison helps students contrast rate of change, slope shape and written relationships of functions (y vs. x; y vs. x^2; y vs. 1/x, and so on). THREE (3) activities are included:
