As OTs, our expertise is NOT education. Majority of our training is tailored to biomechanical and psychosocial theories, sensorimotor intervention, neuroanatomy, task analysis and study of the human body–none of which include navigating a public school system. In my opinion, merging our medical background with the educational setting can be one of the most difficult transitions as a new practitioner.
