Poster Board Project Rubric
This is the generic version of project rubrics I‘ve used in different classes through the years - including reading, social studies, and science classes. Many teachers find it difficult to grade projects like these fairly. This rubric is designed to help students understand the parameters of the assignment and provide a handy assessment and grading tool for the teacher. The fun usually begins when you can see that the kids understand the material and can present it in a creative way.

I found that trying to teach the whole cycle to middle schoolers gets overwhelming to them, so I start with the basic steps then have them draw on more steps (mineralization and immobilization, volitalization, etc.) as they get more comfortable.

DNA Mutation Coloring sheet and Practice
I wanted to make a sheet where two strands of DNA could be compared to the protein that it coded. Proteins not being formed is a major downfall in mutations such as with Cystic Fibrosis. The students must identify a deletion, an insertion, a duplication, and an inversion.
