Sandwich Algorithm Write down in DETAIL the steps it takes to make a sandwich. Write the instructions in a way for another person, who has NEVER made a sandwich before, could understand. You need at least 8 steps. Make sure to include the steps to cut and share the sandwichRecord a video of you reading your instructions to someone at home while they attempt to make your sandwich. Your partner will follow the steps exactly how you read them including the steps to cut and share the sandwich.Create

Cosmo's Minus Method (Poster / Handout)

Cosmo's Minus Method is an adaptation of Cramer's Rule I made for my Algebra 2 class. I wanted them to have this algorithm as an alternative to substitution or elimination to solve moderately difficult systems of 2 linear equations in standard form. I chose not to call it Cramer's Rule because a quick google search would reveal how to use Cramer's Rule with the available TI-84 Graphing Calculators. Also, the title of the algorithm "Cosmo's Minus Method" comes from the name of the crazy neighbor

Factoring Lesson 4: Factoring trinomials when a = 1 (AC Method)

Factoring trinomials whose leading coefficient (a) is 1. Notes included. I do not teach the "guess and check" method of factoring; students struggle with it because there is no process. The "AC method" uses a process/algorithm to easily factor a trinomial; it relies on the concept of factoring by grouping. 1. Multiply a and c 2. Find factors of "ac" that add up to "b" 3. Rewrite "bx" using the factors you found 4. Factor by grouping Because of this method, the only "new" thing between thi

Pre-Algebra -Lesson 3-2 - Decimal and Fraction conversion- (7 Honors/ 8 Regents)

Hi Everybody! This is my 2nd lesson in the REAL NUMBERS chapter for Pre-Algebra. This was designed for my 7 Honors class, but it also works well with 8 Regents. This can even be used a REVIEW for an 8 Honors class. (I also have my entire Unit 1 and 2 posted on Exponents and Scientific Notation and Polynomials. You can purchase the entire bundle or individual lessons.)For this lesson (Unit 3- Lesson 2), I have the students try to recognize decimals that basic fractions are equal to. For exa

Decimals: Models, Standard, Word, Expanded Form, Rounding, and Comparing These resources help simplify a challenging topic! I spent about 3 weeks teaching this unit to my own fifth grade students, and I can attest to its success. My students love the interactive notes and refer to them often. I create interactive notes with minimal cutting and gluing so that it does not take too much time away from the actual lesson. If you do not use interactive notes, you can always print them out and use t

In this organizer, multiple representations of linear functions are displayed in a succinct and connected way. I use this document to help students "frame in" the learning goals, summarize lessons, create a useful reference, and develop sense of function by repeatedly focusing on all four faces(tables, graphs, equations, and situations.) I also find this document useful for planning.

Help focus your curriculum on big ideas. This framework is designed to accompany and guide the study on linear functions. We know that multiple representations are a key to communication and algebraic power. These guides provide a solid foundation for the rest of your curriculum and are ready to go day 1. I also have a free organizer sheet available for download that you may find helpful. Best of luck this school year! These frameworks have been powerful tools for my students. They support con
