This is a small group reader's theater is for 3 students. This script introduces students to similes and metaphors and give them some practice with them. It does NOT explain the difference between them though because it is the first time students have encountered them. In the script, Literal Lizzy who I have used before on a simpler script, thinks that everything someone says is literal. This means that what is said is exactly what is meant. Billy and Wanda help her practice metaphors and simile

That's why instead of making my own boards, I've started using screenshots of the home pages of different AAC programs as my boards. I highly, highly recommend doing the same thing. The benefits are: 1. You're still getting the core vocabulary that you would get from a core board. PLUS 2. The student is learning the motor plan (the locations of all the but

With all the school closures, I have been looking for resources for home programming for those on my caseload. Since I was having some difficulty locating a calendar with activities for the emergent communicators on my caseload, I decided to create one for the month of April. Each day has one activity that could be done at home with a focus on core words. The document should be fully editable if you would like to change any of the wording or activities, and I will be adding to it as time passes.
