NGSS PS2.A: Forces and Motion Graphing Acceleration vs Mass Cause & Effect

If you are teaching your students how to understand graphs and NGSS Disciplinary Core Idea PS2.A: Forces and Motion, this resource is a great scaffold or assessment! Students discover that as more mass is added to an object, the acceleration decreases demonstrating Newton’s 2nd Law. The graph they make demonstrates that there is an inverse relationship between mass and acceleration and that acceleration is dependent on mass. This resource is great as a warm up/bell ringer, homework or sub plan.

Notes and Exit Ticket for Graphing Lines Using Slope Intercept Form

Created by
Alanna Hunter
This includes two versions of the notes I use to teach graphing lines using slope-intercept form. The first version is a completed version. The second version is a fill-in-the-blank version that can be printed for students or posted on Google Classroom for them to fill out digitally. I have also included a Google Form with a 10-point exit ticket-type quiz that I use to check in with the students at the end of the lesson.

Distance Time Graphs Practice

This Distance Time Graph Practice is perfect to practice with your students and show them how to complete a Distance time Graph from start to finish. You can use this worksheet to either guide your students step by step, have students work independently or start on it with them and then walk around as they complete the rest. Either way it's a great fun activity for the kids. Students will first label their graphs by naming and numbering their X and Y axis on the graph. From there they will plot

Introduction to Types of Slopes and Calculating Slope

Guided Notes centered around being able to identify positive, negative, zero and undefined slopes. Also a basic introduction to calculating slope given two points. Includes an activity idea in which students use their pencil as a line. The teacher calls out a slope type and students are to model that slope with their pencil. It's a fun way to keep students engaged and perform a formative assessment.

Slope Intercept Form Unit Guided Notes

This is 20 pages of notes that cover from introduction to slope intercept form through calculating slope intercept form given two points. There are word problem examples and ample opportunities to practice. Some places may require you to fill in the blanks for students (vocab) and drawing graphs for students to work with. I left them blank intentionally so you can draw lines your students struggle with (negative slopes or slopes that are fractions for example). Does not include lessons on Slope
