Plan a Vacation
Initially, I designed this lesson for adding/multiplying decimal numbers, and it's fine for that; however, I've started using it toward the end of the year as a lesson on basic spreadsheet formulas. As an end-of-the-year project, it allows the students to complete Internet research, which they enjoy, and to create an online slideshow project, which they also enjoy.

Students plan a party from start to finish. They are in charge of creating a supply list, estimating cost, and go online to find actual amounts. This document is based in excel and has preloaded formulas for your students to input their amounts. They can't be over the designated budget though!
