Thanksgiving; Turkey Math
Finding and plotting coordinates is a 2nd grade math skill that can be linked to the new Common Core Learning Standards, as the student will be dealing with data. Students color the grid according to the matching coordinates. As the grid is filled in, it will reveal a Native American. Geometry: Transformations Turkey Project
Students will translate, reflect, rotate, and dilate to create the image of a turkey. The dilation is defined by a rule (coordinate notation) so technically, they do not need to know how to dilate in order to complete this part of the project. I describe the project in class, then assign it for students to complete over Thanksgiving break. Favorite Thanksgiving Food Pictograph
This activity is great for helping your students understand pictographs. It comes with a tally sheet, blank pictograph, and questions relating to favorite Thanksgiving foods. Students can survey their classmates, record their data in a pictograph, and analyze it.

Graphing can be hard for some to understand. I have created a fun Thanksgiving activity for students to do. On the first page students will count each Thanksgiving object and record the answer in the blanks at the bottom of the page. The next page includes the graph. The students will use their totals from the page above. Hope you enjoy this activity.
