This can be a little difficult for students to understand when taught in an abstract way. Montessori Math introduces place value with the Golden Beads and then moving up into a more abstract way with the Stamp Game. Each place value is also color coded to help keep them in order with ones being green, tens are blue, hundreds are red and thousands are green.
