Hi there. This is great project where students take a survey of 25 teachers in their school to see how many iPhones / smartphones there are in their homes. Students tally the results and express their results in fraction, decimal, and percent form. This year we took a "field trip" around the school during class to collect all of the data. The students loved it!

This is a great activity to get students out of their seats! Students find the probability of drawing a certain card from a standard 52 card deck. The walk decide on a multiple choice answer individually or with partners and write answers on the included student answer sheet. The multiple choice answer directs students to the next problem they must solve. Print and post each of the problems sheets around the room. Students travel around the room in order to solve each problem. I usually use this

This assignment is based on a thought-provoking TED Talk that delves into the complexities of understanding health risks, particularly the difference between absolute and relative risk. Students will explore real-world examples, such as the impact of a new drug on heart attack risk and the increase in shark attacks, to grasp the significance of these concepts in evaluating risks. In this assignment, students will engage with the TED Talk through a set of 10 high school/college level questions th

I'll watch students mouthing the words on tests and quizzes to help them remember. I've also gotten public performances when I've run into students outside of school. When I introduce binomial distributions with random variables I have each student take the "quiz" where they are truly guessing multiple choice answers. I do this to not only introduce binomial probability but to prove that your chances of passing a quiz by guessing are extremely low. The worksheet has two quizzes on the first page and 4 possible solutions on the second page. The expected value and probability of passing the quiz solutions are on the second page. This is a fun little activity to

The students will then be asked to compare the outcome of the theoretical probability and experimental probability. This a

Students write the probability of picking an even number (or odd, multiple of 2, prime number, number divisible by 3, etc) from the table as a fraction, reduced fraction, and decimal. This shows them the multiple ways probability can be written. Some have a 100% probability and some have a zero percent. Great activity to preview!
