Sample slides include- - Why use adjectives - Adjectives modify nouns - Notice that an adjective is always part of a binary system, like a double star or a planet with one moon! - Three degrees of adjectives.....and so much more!

Lecture: Sectionalism/antebellum era

This is the lecture I created to complement a wonderful TCI (Teacher's Curriculum Institute) simulated debate on sectionalism (1820-1861), which enables the students to understand why the U.S. engaged in the Civil War in April 1861. If you can't access TCI's simulated debate online for some reason (without buying the entire Civil War unit), this may be used in isolation as a lecture rather than as a complement to a simulated debate.

Lecture: Effects of WWII on the U.S.

This is a lecture that is consistent with the IB History of the Americas curriculum for the WWII unit, but it will also work for any U.S. History course. One of the main purposes of IB History is to prepare students for their IB History exams, which are all essay based, during which they must wage a main argument, supported with evidence, to be complemented with a counterclaim, also supported with evidence. This lecture supports this goal. I tend to have students copy down everything in red a
