This is the lesson plan for the very first day of any first French or World Language class. I've taught this lesson for ages 5 to 105. (Well, not really 105, the oldest student I've had in a class is 82). It provides rich, comprehensible input and is conducted entirely in French or the target language, start to finish. The only thing you need are shapes in different colors (thinks toddler toys or counting toys) and chocolates from any major grocery store.
I have compiled vocabulary lists for the first 2 hours of the Telenovela Atrevete a sonar (Dare to Dream). I have divided them up into 30 minute segments. As students watch telenovela in AP, IB, or Spanish 3 or 4, they can fill in the English equivalents of the vocabulary provided in Spanish.
