This is a quick review quiz, test or simple worksheet that can be used as a completed study guide or assessment or review. Students will write the word Sun, Earth or Moon next to each description. This can be placed in a center with books to be completed. There is also a labeling section to help with understanding size and orbit.
There is also a bonus to put the planets in order to help with the introduction of the planets for the next unit.
This assessment tests students' knowledge on what makes up the inner and outer planets, why Pluto is not considered a planet, and why the sun looks bigger than other stars. Print both pages back to front and cut in half for half sheet tests to save paper. This assessment is aligned with the 4th grade Colorado science standards.

This activity enables students as young as 1st grade successfully to create and test the GREENHOUSE EFFECT that takes place in a closed glass jar in the sunlight. Students make predictions and discover how the temperature in the jar increases! The children can relate to a similar experience in an enclosed car. You also can relate this lab to the greenhouse effect (and global warming) in Earth's atmosphere, due to the presence greenhouse gases (like carbon dioxide, methane, and water vapor).
This is a booklet that I send home with students to work on with their parents. Students go outside and record their observations. This is an easy way to increase parent involvement in their student's academia. This can be incorporated into any science lesson.
